Kahlert Institute for Addiction Medicine
The Kahlert Institute for Addiction Medicine is dedicated to improving the lives of Marylanders living with and affected by addiction. To confront this generational challenge, the Kahlert Institute will seek to transform addiction research, prevention, treatment, and education across Maryland, successfully integrating groups across many disciplines to create the necessary synergy for systemic change.

Center for Substance Use in Pregnancy
The Center for Substance Use in Pregnancy will conduct pre-clinical and clinical neuroscience research, focusing on the use of marijuana, opioids, nicotine and alcohol, all of which have increased dramatically in recent years. The center will be co-directed by Joseph Cheer, PhD, Professor of Anatomy & Neurobiology and Psychiatry, and Mary Kay Lobo, PhD, Associate Professor of Anatomy & Neurobiology.
UM-MIND
The University of Maryland - Medicine Institute for Neuroscience Discovery (UM-MIND) will accelerate translational research of the brain by facilitating interaction between basic and clinical scientists and enhancing collaborative research across the University of Maryland, Baltimore campus, and with our local partners, MPRC and STAR.
