Neuroscience Scholars Program
Rising or Current Undergrad seeking STEM Research Experience?


The Neuroscience Scholars Program is a 5-week mentored summer research training program that is designed to prepare rising and current undergraduates from Baltimore for graduate school and STEM careers. The program also provides select high school students from Baltimore City Public Schools with research experiences to enhance their journey towards college as STEM majors.
The program is run by the Department of Neurobiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine located in downtown Baltimore. The program aims to strengthen relationships with the Baltimore community, local institutions, regional colleges and universities, all aligned in the goal of enhancing biomedical research opportunities in Baltimore.
Program Highlights:
- 5-week mentored summer research experience working on an individualized summer research project
- Summer stipend
- Partnership with YouthWorks Programs and the Kahlert Institute for Addiction Medicine
The 5-week program runs from July 6 - August 7, 2026
For Applicants Living in Baltimore City:
An application to Baltimore City Youthworks is also required. The program focus is neuroscience research and applicants with interest in the brain and behavior are encouraged to apply. Applicants with interest in other areas of biomedical research are welcome to apply and some applications may be routed to partner programs within the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
